Francis Atwoli has dared Jubilee Majority Whip Benjamin Washiali to resign over the sacking of Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa.
Echesa was shown the door by President Uhuru Kenyatta in a mini Cabinet reshuffle last Thursday and his place taken by former Education CS Amina Mohammed.
His sacking has been condemned by Western region leaders led by National Assembly Majority Whip Washiali. The Mumias West MP said Echesa’s sacking was a blow to the Luhya community.
But yesterday Central Organisanisation of Trade Unions Secretary General Francis Atwoli accused those condemning Uhuru of dishonesty and “auctioning Luhyas for selfish gains”.
“If Washiali is man enough, let him quit his Majority Whip position in protest over the sacking of Echesa. Washiali and others who led Jubilee campaigns in Western should be ashamed for misleading the President,” he said.
