Bar owners warned against selling condoms in Kirinyaga county as Government provide during the Devolution Conference

As Kirinyaga county kicks off with the sixth Devolution Conference, over 150,000 condoms have been distributed in the region.

Kirinyaga County Deputy Public Health Officer Peter Irungu on Sunday
warned bar owners against selling the condoms, noting that the government has paid for them hence they should be issued out for free.

Mr Irungu said his officers distributed condoms to bars and restaurants as well as areas where the delegates will be accommodated.

“People should not shy away because distribution of condoms has been going on even when there is no devolution conference,” he said.

Over 6,000 delegates are expected in Kirinyaga County for the conference with some being forced to look for accommodation from neighboring counties including Murang’a, Embu, Meru, Nyeri and Kiambu.

Kirinyaga County Commissioner Samson Ojwang’ said that the public will only be allowed to attend the exhibition at Kirinyaga University grounds in Kutus.
