3 time NBA champion to have MRI scan after missing Golden State Warriors win

Three time NBA Champion and Warrior’s shooting guard Klay Thompson will have an MRI scan on his right knee after he was forced to miss the Golden State Warriors’ win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday.

The shooting guard suffered the injury during Friday’s defeat to Orlando Magic, and will have the scan when the Warriors return to California.Sponsored link

Thompson told ESPN: “I’m sore but I’ll be alright. I don’t think it’s anything serious, but it’s definitely better [to] take the right precautions for sure.”

Speaking before the 120-117 win, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said: “He hurt it during the game [against Orlando] when he banged his knee on the floor and it didn’t really hurt him until the morning.

“It’s inflamed enough where it doesn’t make sense to play him, and our docs will check him out when we get back.”

Thompson, who is averaging 22 points per game this season, was replaced by Alfonzo McKinnie against the 76ers, who made just his third start of the campaign.

The Warriors were also without forward Kevon Looney, who has a pelvis injury, as they secured their first win in three matches.
