Kenya has today joined nations in celebrating the World Wildlife day.
The celebrations kicked off yesterday when Kenya Wildlife Service carried out a beach clean up activity led by Warden Jane Gitau at the Malindi Marine National Park in honour of #LifeBelowWater
Many people believe that today’s about appreciating the incredible creatures we share the world with & thinking about our affect on their natural environment.
Each year has a theme and 2019 focuses on marine species for the first time.
UN environment says that as much as 40% of the ocean is now heavily affected by the over-exploitation of marine species as well as other threats such as pollution, loss of coastal habitats & climate change. #WorldWildlifeDay 2019 is about protecting life below water
On 20 December 2013, at its 68th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) decided to proclaim 3 March, the day of the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), as World Wildlife Day, which was proposed by Thailand,[1] to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild fauna and flora.
Today, besides the celebrations, nations pledge To Protect & Preserve Wildlife & Their Natural Habitat .
