No room for law breakers, matatu’s thug sentenced to death

Francis Ochieng Edgar has been sentenced to death by a Nairobi court after he was found guilty of killing two people during a robbery incident. He is said to have committed the crime along Thika Road. He had been charged alongside Peter Njoroge Wamiatha.

Njoroge was however jailed for three years, since he was found with some of the stolen items, including a radio cassette. The prosecution’s witnesses during trial told the court that the two boarded a matatu from Ronald Ngala and when they reached Homeland area, they ordered passengers to surrender their valuables and lie on floor.

The accused commandeered the matatu and sped off before forcibly throwing out some passengers from the moving matatu. Cops are said to have gotten wind of the robbery and tracked the robbers. Ochieng’ was later arrested and identified positively after he was found in possession of one of the victims’ phone, while Njoroge was found with stolen property.
