Why Echesa’s former colleagues termed his appointment ‘a big shame’?

Some cabinet secretaries had earlier termed the appointment of former Sports and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Rashid Achesa ‘unfortunate and a big shame’.

The CSs had earlier protested that Mr Echesa did not have a proper grasp of issues in the cabinet and in his ministry.

‘What discussion can you have with a class 7 dropout who does not understand anything’? One of the CSs was quoted as saying.

The executive order signed by the President read…“…committed to enhancing efficiency, transparency and accountability at all levels of Government through a governance structure and leadership that ensures rapid delivery of public services to Kenyans in every part of the Republic.”

Mr Echesa only underwent basic formal education, a report on his vetting had revealed.

He has been replaced by former Education CS Amina Mohammed.

KNEC Chairman George Magoha was nominated to head the Education docket.

Mr Achesa’s nomination was unveiled by President Uhuru Kenyatta when he announced changes in his administration on January 26, 2018.
