Imagine being stuck in a thick traffic jam along Thika road, after an hour inhaling fumes from other peoples cars, cars start to slowly pick up momentum. As you pass other cars slowly, you glance outside your window and see your former president controlling the traffic. Whoa! no traffic police in sight, but your former president has been controlling the traffic jam for the better.
Jerry John Rawlings, a former president and military leader was caught on camera directing traffic in Prampram, a coastal town in the country’s Greater Accra region.
Rawlings sought to intervene after commuters were stuck in traffic for over an hour on the stretch of road.
According to local media, the traffic snarl-up was caused by motorists creating four lanes on a single lane road.
GhanaWeb reported that according to a close associate of the former president, he had on several occasions witnessed the indiscipline of drivers and in this case decided to “step out and direct traffic and bring a sense of orderliness”.
