We won’t be cowed on such threats,Raila blasts Governor Waititu

ODM Leader Raila Odinga scalded Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu in public after he called President Uhuru Kenyatta to go slow in the war against corruption.

Speaking during the burial of Murang’a tycoon Thayu Kamau Kabugi, Governor Waititu said ,to avoid rubbing influential people from Rift Valley who could reiterate by instigating tribal clashes.

While Kenyatta ignored the remark by Waititu, Odinga addressed and appeared infuriated by what he called intimidation by the corrupt.

 “Every Kenyan has a right to live and invest anywhere in this country. These are constitutional rights. As Uhuru said, nobody steals on behalf of his community, if Uhuru steals that’s him and not Kikuyus. If Raila steals, it is not the Luo community that has stolen.”

“Waititu, you should not be intimidated and blackmailed. We won’t be cowed on such threats if we want to fight and eliminate corruption but we must remain steadfast and take the looters to jail where they deserve,” Odinga stated.

President Kenyatta did not directly respond Waititu but said the war on corruption would continue, warning politicians to expect more arrests.

“Some people still think I am joking.But I want to assure them that this work will and must be done, you will see many of them being arrested and not even shouting in the media will save them,” said the President in vernacular.
