There is a saying about Kenyan policemen, that when you see one, you should run very fast because they can arrest or kill you.
Rogue police officers with a colonial mindset have terrorized many Kenyans. But not all policemen are bad. In fact a few bad officers have spoiled the name of the police service.
A Mombasa traffic officer has shown Kenyans that there are good cops out there after going out of his way to donate blood to the wife of a Tuk tuk driver he had arrested.
William Mzungu did not have proper NTSA accreditation and insurance cover when he was flagged down.
He explained to the traffic officer whose name has been revealed as George Mugambi, that he was rushing to attend to his wife who had been admitted with breast cancer.
The officer not convinced accompanied Mzungu to hospital where he found the man’s sick wife. The wife was in dire need of blood and someone had offered to sale it at 4k per pint.
But the officer offered to donate blood. He also did shopping for Mzungu’s son who is in high school.
But it did not end there, the selfless cop mobilized people to donate blood for the tuk tuk driver.
Now that is a story worth reading.
