Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has been sacked in a major reshuffle effected by President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning.
Last year in August, Rashid, who was at one time the ODM national youth leader before defecting to Jubilee, claimed that Raila was unhappy with his appointment.
He said in a video, which was widely shared online showed that the suspected plot to remove him defeats the spirit of the handshake.
The CS said they were urged by President Uhuru Kenyatta to embrace the unity pact but “it is unfortunate someone has taken advantage of it to have us sacked.”
“The President appointed me because I am a child of the poor. He knew that by appointing me, I would uplift another poor kid,” Achesa said.
He will be now be replaced by Amina Mohammed who has been moved from the Education Ministry.
KNEC Chairman George Magoha has been nominated to replace Amina at the Education docket.
In the Executive Order issued from State House this morning, Fatuma Hersi who was the Principal Secretary for Tourism has been sacked.
