Why Gabriel Jesus Has been called up for Brazil and Fernandinho left out

There have been some injury updates on Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho after the Brazilian national team announced their latest squad.

There will be an international break from the 20th March to the 27th, with several teams announcing their squads for that break this week.

With that, there have been some pretty interesting inclusions and exclusions.

The Brazil squad will be of particular interest for Manchester City fans this week.

That is because two of their Brazilian contingent, Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho, have been struggling with injury of late.

Now, with the announcement of Brazil’s squad for the upcoming international squad, we have a better idea of their fitness levels.

First up is Gabriel Jesus, who has been called up to the Brazil squad.

Guardiola confirmed this week that both Jesus and John Stones are ‘coming back soon’ and Jesus’ inclusion confirms that is likely the case still.

It’s a different story for Fernandinho, however.

He has been left out of the Brazil squad for the next international break after limping off in the Carabao Cup final.

Guardiola said at the time that he would be out for ‘some weeks’ and that has been confirmed by the fact he is not in the Brazil squad.

Manchester City will certainly hope that an extended break for Fernandinho will have him fit and ready sooner than expected.

Vinicius handed first call-up
Another big talking point about the Brazil squad is Vinícius Júnior’s first call-up.

The Real Madrid starlet has really impressed since moving to the Bernabeu and many are now starting to stand up and take note.

That form has earned him his first call-up for his national team.

The first of many, no doubt!
