Mesut Ozil earned manager Unai Emery’s praise after starring for Arsenal in their 5-1 demolition of Bournemouth at the Emirates on Wednesday night.
The German was impressive on his first Premier League start since January 29, scoring the opener and providing an assist for Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the opening 45 minutes.
When asked about Ozil’s performance by the BBC, Emery said: “Good,”
“I think he’s happier with us. I am now also very proud of players and the same with Mesut.
“He helped us with his quality and his work also to organize and play in different systems.”
The victory was Arsenal’s fifth in their last six Premier League games ahead of their crunchy North London derby against Tottenham on Saturday.
“Yes, it’s a big motivation. We need to take the opportunity, like today,” Emery said of the derby.
“We have a great opportunity. At the moment they are better than us in the table and it’s difficult to win there. It’s a great test.
