Should the government ban corporal punishment in schools?
There was tension as shocked parents and administrators flocked to the hospital after a standard six pupil at Mikuyuni Primary School in Kibwezi was brought to the facility after he was allegedly kicked by his teacher.
The 14-year-old breathed his last on arrival at Kibwezi Amref Sub-county Hospital where he had been taken for treatment.
Kibwezi Police Commander Ben Chagulo said the police are investigating the puzzling death to establish the cause.
“It’s true the pupil has passed on at the facility but we will let the investigating team to tell us what caused his death,” he said.He said whoever was alleging the boy was kicked should come out and report it.
“We don’t want to go by speculations, otherwise, let’s wait for the results of the investigating team and perhaps the postmortem,” the police boss said.
The body has been moved to Makindu Sub-county Hospital mortuary
