Ruto Reveals How Kenyans Shot Themselves in the Foot in the Entire Dams Saga

Are Kenyans being taken for a ride in this whole Dams Saga? Was money actually lost? If not, why are there claims doing round that money meant for construction of dams was actually swindled by a few individuals yet no meaningful work was done?

Well, just a day after his close aide Ken Osinde was implicated in the ongoing dams saga surrounding the construction of Arror and Kimwarer dams, a confident William Ruto has come out to refute claims that money amounting to 21 billion shillings was lost.

The DP has confirmed that in as much as some money is missing, it has not hit the 21 billion mark and that it is only 7 billion.

Ruto has also assurred Kenyans that even the 7 billion will not be lost as the Government is following up everything.

Ruto said the figures being reported to have been stolen were misleading.

“You’ have heard that the government has lost about Sh21 billion which is a flat lie! The money in question is about Sh7 billion, and for every coin that has been paid, we have a bank guarantee,” he said.

Ruto insisted no money will be lost since theirs is a government which is responsible, adding that they have engaged every arm of government.

“The correct information must be used as we target the fight against corruption so that we can nail the real culprit,” he said.

“Sometimes we say Sh9 billion has been lost and we go to court, then we are told its Sh100 million. Sometimes we shoot ourselves in the foot.”

He added, “Our commitment as a government is that there are mechanisms and synergy around what we should do to deliver and give factual information.”
