Revealed: KA restructured schedule to suit African Games programme

Athletics Kenya has retorted to restructuring its calendar of events for the season in line with new dates for the 12th African Games scheduled to take place in Casablanca, Morocco.

The venue in which the first AK Relay Series /Anti-Doping Awareness was to take place has been moved from Mombasa to Nairobi City.

Announcing the changes, the Athletics Kenya said the competition slated for Saturday, March 2 will now be held at the Nairobi West Prisons Grounds on the same date.

The dates and venues for the second and third series however remain unchanged with Kisumu and Nakuru hosting the meets respectively.

With the 12th All Africa Games being moved earlier to August 23-September 3, from the scheduled October 14-21in Cassablanca, Morocco, thus leading to adjustments in the AK program.

Consequently, the trials of the Games will be held on June 20-22 at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC), Kasarani, and thus the fourth AK Track and Field Build Up Competition earmarked for the same dates in Eldoret has been scrapped off.

Similarly, team Kenya for the Games will report to residential training camp on July 28 ahead of the continental assignment.

On the other hand, the trials for the Confederation of Africa Athletics (CAA) Under-18 and Under-20 championships slated for March 7 has been pushed further to March 21-22 at the MISC, Kasarani.
