Messi’s feeder at Barcelona extends his stay

Spanish international Jordi Alba has extended his stay at Barcelona by signing a new deal that will keep him at the club till 2024.  A statement on the club’s official website read: FC Barcelona and Jordi Alba have reached an agreement to renew his contract for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2024. The buyout clause is set at €500M.

It should be remembered that Jordi Alba has won a total of 14 titles with FC Barcelona and is currently in his seventh season with the first team. He has played 282 games in which he’s scored a total of 14 goals. FC Barcelona’s left-back, Jordi Alba is also the best provider of assists for Lionel Messi,having given a total of 20 since they started playing together. A few weeks ago, on the day of the match against Sevilla (6-1) in the Copa del Rey, the player celebrated his 200th win as a blaugrana.

Alba has been in inspired form for Barca this term, providing 14 assists in all competitions and scoring two goals, with Ernesto Valverde’s side currently seven points clear of seventh-place Atletico Madrid in La Liga. And the full-back’s form has now been rewarded with a new five-year deal, containing a €500 million buyout clause.  Alba signed for Barca from Valencia in 2012, and has made 282 appearances across all competitions, winning four league titles, four Copa del Rey trophies and one Champions League during his time at the club.

The 29-year-old has scored 14 goals for the Blaugrana, while his link-up with Lionel Messi has proved particularly fruitful. Over the course of their time playing together, Alba has supplied Messi with 20 assists.  Alba, who will turn 30 in March, signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2012 after scoring one of the goals in the final when Spain beat Italy 4-0 at Euro 2012.

He has helped the team to win four La Liga titles and Copa del Reys as well as the 2015 Champions League when they won a historic trouble
