Jurgen Klopp’s message to his Liverpool squad has fans brimming with confidence

Jurgen Klopp was delighted with his team's performance against Watford on Wednesday

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has attempted to take the pressure off himself and his players by telling them to “enjoy the ride.”

With Manchester City breathing down their necks at the top of the Premier League, Liverpool proved they are up to the challenge by making light work of Watford on Wednesday evening.

It was an emphatic result – their biggest win of the season – which followed a run of three draws in four matches.

Liverpool now make the short trip to Goodison Park looking to keep City at arm’s length with Klopp saying that things were never quite as fraught as the media might think.

“We drew against Manchester United and Bayern Munich,” said Klopp on Sky Sports. “I think most teams would wish they had these problems. But you have to be really stable, you cannot always be sensational. Tonight we were stable and sensational.

“We have 69 points. We could have had 75 that’s possible. But we are playing a really good season. Let’s enjoy the ride and see as far as it takes us.”

However Klopp isn’t expecting a repeat of such free-flowing, attacking football when they face the Toffees but failure will not be down to a lack of effort.

“We try every week to play like this but now we go to Everton,” said Klopp. “They are not there to give us presents. We will try it again and hopefully it works out. It was a fantastic night against Watford. Brilliant goals, outstanding atmosphere, sensational moments of football, good set-pieces, football intelligence, big passion and desire, it was a good performance.

“I loved the game a lot. We want to see that more often. The boys have showed things like this all season but tonight it was for different reasons very important.”
