James Garner is Manchester United’s latest wonderkid Jamesx. He made his first team debut against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
Manchester United managed an impressive 3-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, despite a host of first team injuries.
Two goals from Romelu Lukaku and one from Ashley Young were enough to see off Palace at Selhurst Park.
But, there was another very significant event that occurred in the game, when Manchester United youngster James Garner was substituted on in the 90th minute to get his first taste of senior football for the Red Devils.
There was a lot of talk ahead of the game that the likes of Garner, Angel Gomes, Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood may get some game time, but in the end Garner was the only youngster to be subbed on by Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.
The United academy prospect was compared to former player Michael Carrick by Solskjer which has got fans very excited.
“I believe he’s got the chance to have a great future,” Solskjaer said. “He knows we believe in him, we’ve got great faith in him as the next Michael Carrick. I know he’s young and I know it’s not fair on kids to compare to great players like Michael was, but he’s the same mould, he plays simple passes, plays through the lines.”
But just how good a prospect is James Garner? Is he really the next Michael Carrick?
