AFC Leopards Give Reasons For Change of Home Ground

The decision by AFC Leopards management to shift their weekend league match from Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos to Kakamega’s Bukhungu Stadium was influenced by the wish to accommodate Western region fans.

Leopards have been struggling, both on and off the pitch, losing five consecutive games and have also struggled to lure fans to attend their matches at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Club’s Secretary General, Oscar Igaida said Bukhungu Stadium is seen as the best alternative as Nyayo Stadium, Ingwe’s home ground, continues to undergo renovations. He further noted that Ingwe fans from Western have complained about the costs involved in travelling to Machakos.

“We have today paid salaries to our players and their technical bench, just to motivate them as we expect a win in Kakamega on Saturday. Our technical bench has prepared a report regarding recruitment of a few players and the same will be perused by the technical committee before being handed to the National Executive Committee (NEC),” he said.

AFC Leopards is expected to sign seven during next month’s transfer period.
