Court Frees 3 City Officials in Ksh7.3 million scandal.

Nairobi court has today released three senior city hall officials who are battling cases of defrauding Ksh7.3 million at city hall, this followed an application by the prosecution to have the suspects released only for court to free.

The three, Stephen Mwina Mutua (Chief Finance Officer), Johnson Akongo Abwori, his deputy and David Kimburi Wambugu (accountant) were released on a cash bail of Ksh200,000 each by Principal Magistrate Peter Ooko.

Prosecution failed to table compelling reasons as to why the suspects should be held for more four days and the Magitrate Peter Ooko freed them and ordered them to report to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) daily. The suspects were arrested on February 25, 2019 for allegedly conspiring with the directors of Nunguni General suppliers to steal Ksh7,396,552.
