Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho has transformed the counties largest marketplace to global standards.

The Governor through his administration assigned a team to take up the project of giving the marketplace a face-lift in the efforts to boost trade and working environment.

Although the project has still not reached the completion stage, the Kongowea clean-up exercise is taking shape.

An update from the county government office noted that the general painting of the market, unclogging of the drainage system and enhanced collection of solid waste is improving the business environment for traders in the retail and wholesale trading sections.

The Department of Trade, Tourism and Investment also expressed their continued efforts to enhance and improve the business environment for traders and customers alike.

They also urged everyone using the market to dump garbage responsibly.

Mombasa County began the complete clean-up exercise of Kongowea market 4 days ago as they implement the new market policies.

The Department of Trade, Tourism & Investment recognizes the need for a conducive environment upon which traders can operate and thrive.

The Implementation of these new policies will turn the city into a flourishing economy and will enable traders to have a conducive working environment and promote their sales.
