MPs send Koimet and Mikosz away over JKIA takeover

The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport take over debate has been trending for sometime now and on Tuesday was not exceptional as angry Transport and Roads Committee members kicked out Transport Principal Secretary Esther Koimett and KQ Chief Executive Officer Sebastian Mikosz after failing to table documents over takeover.

In a video that went Viral saw PS Koimett and Mr Mikosz putting their documents together and leaving the chambers after a section of MPs led by Vice Chairman Moses Kuria and Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose accused the duo of providing unverified documents.

In his statement the committee chair David Pkosing said, “What business will we doing here if you don’t have the proposal? We can’t talk about what we haven’t seen,”

In addition his counterpart Shadrack Mose said, “The CS is at the centre of this so we cannot proceed without him. He has to be here.”

The furious MPs gave Ms Koimett and Mr Mikosz one hour to return with the Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, adding that he was the best placed to answer their concerns.

Members of parliament were to be provided with the Privately Initiated Investment Proposal (PIIP) on the plan but Ms Koimet said she did not have it.
