Mike Dean Was Pulled From Chelsea Vs Tottenham For This Major Reason

There’s a high-profile London derby on Wednesday night as Chelsea host Tottenham in the Premier League.

Tottenham seem relatively secure in the race for a top four finish.

Despite losing 2-1 at Burnley last time out, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still seven points clear of fourth placed Arsenal.

Arsenal take on Spurs in the north London derby this weekend.

As for Chelsea, they return to league action after losing the Carabao Cup final on penalties to Man City.

The Blues will turn up at Stamford Bridge under the dark shadow cast by Kepa’s bust-up with Maurizio Sarri at Wembley.

Why Mike Dean was pulled
Premier League official Mike Dean was originally named as the fourth official for the Chelsea versus Spurs match.

However Dean has since been removed by the FA. Why? Sky Sports report:

The decision to remove Dean follows his confrontation with Mauricio Pochettino at the end of Tottenham’s loss to Burnley on Saturday.

The Professional Game Match Officials Board (PGMOL) have confirmed Dean will now be on the touchline for Manchester City’s match against West Ham at the Etihad.

So who will be in charge of the London derby?

The referee will be Andre Marriner, while the assistants are Scott Ledger and Simon Long.

The fourth official is Kevin Friend.

On Monday, the FA confirmed that Pochettino has been fined for his post-match behaviour at Burnley.
