DCI retracts summoning of MPs linked with viral sex tape

Saying the decision was premature and uncalled for, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has dismissed orders to summon Members of Parliament.

Four legislators, including Eldas MP Aden Keynan, Abdihakim Mohamed of Fafi Constituency, Isiolo Woman Representative Rehema Jaldesa and her Kirinyaga counterpart Wangui Ngirici had been issued with oreres for summoning by the DCI.

The MPs are accused of uttering defamatory statements that portrayed Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi in bad light following the circulation of an unverified sex tape.

Blogger Douglas Mbaya was last year arrested and arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly circulating the video.

The DCI said there was no evidence so far to link the four to the said claims and therefore no need for them to show up as asked.
