The two Iranian terrorists arrested in 2012 belong to the elite Quds Force, the terrorist arm of the Iranian government which reports directly to the Supreme leader.

The Quds force trains Islamist groups in sites within Iran and Sudan. They offer training and support to Lebanese Hezbollah, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, Yemeni Houthis , and Shia militias in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.

These fellows don’t distinguish between Sunni or Shia as long as the Iranian state achieves its objectives. At one point they fought against the Sunni Taliban in Afghanistan but today they work with the Taliban to undermine the Afghani government The Quds Force is rumored to number over 20,000 highly trained operatives.

The Quds trained Bin Laden’s Al Qaeda in the 1990s on how to build advanced truck bombs. Truck bombs that were later used in the 1998 bomb blasts. The training was conducted in Sudan, with Sudan’s government being a complicit.

The two Iranians arrested in 2012 wanted to bomb western or Israeli installations and then blame it on Shabaab. They had brought in 15kgs of an explosive called RDX.

The Iranian government has tried everything to free the two terrorists but Kenyan security forces have stood their ground. There was a plot to even break them out of prison, through offering irresistible bribes to the prison officials. This failed and instead the security was tightened.

However, it’s the Kenyan Judiciary that was compromised and two terrorists jail terms were reduced from life to 15 years and then to complete freedom and deportation back to Iran. But the ODPP would not have any of this and they appealed.

Iran tried to even send fellow elite Quds operatives to work under the guise of the Iranian embassy but Interpol intercepted their plans and warned Kenyan security officials to be on the lookout for suspicious elements at JKIA. These operatives were to break into the prison movie style and rescue the two.

Authorities are investigating Iranian Ambassador to Kenya Hadi Farajvand after he was allegedly busted trying to free the two terror suspects.

The latest reports indicate that the envoy was allegedly involved in a scheme to free from police custody the two Iranian nationals.

Farajvand is said to have given an undisclosed amount of money (bribe) to two people who promised to secure the freedom of the two terror suspects.

The two introduced themselves to Farajvand as senior government officials from the Ministry of Interior.

It is high time Kenyans got to understand that even as security agencies fight day and night to ensure their security; these efforts may not bear fruit with the kind of betrayal by unscrupulous individuals hell-bent on defeating the course of justice for their own selfish gains.
Additionally, Kenyans must guard against being exploited by foreign state like Iran whose only interest is to turn Kenya into a theatre for their proxy wars with their imaginary enemies in total disregard of its negative repercussions to Kenyans.
