Meagan Good

“Tacky” is a strong word, especially at the Oscars, when the gowns on display are often meticulously crafted by teams of experts. But the Georges Chakra creation that Good modeled on the red carpet, unfortunately, veered into bad-prom dress territory.

One of the first jaw-dropping appearances this year was from Green Book actress Linda Cardellini, whose dress was an uncomfortable blend of two of the riskiest style trends available: the “mullet” hemline and hot pink tulle ruffles.

Oh, and she threw in a “2000 Grammys J-Lo”-inspired neckline for good measure, giving the overwhelming overall effect of someone who is literally being drowned in their own bad fashion choice.

People weren’t exactly loving it on Twitter — but this user probably summed it up best:

And pink ruffles seem to be contagious this year.

Country singer Kacey Musgraves caught a case of the Cardellinis and turned up as literal fairy floss.

Ocean’s 8 star Sarah Paulson rarely gets it wrong in the style stakes — which makes this unflattering pink disaster all the more irritating.

Meanwhile, even Best Supporting Actress nominee Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) didn’t seem excited about her decision to don a bizarre cropped red rain coat.

This look is definitely no one’s “Favourite” (sorry).

Her co-star Emma Stone (also nominated in the same category) angered some bees by wearing their honeycomb home as a gown.

We’re sure they’ll get it right next time, no doubt.
