”If I was Jurgen Klopp in that dressing room at half-time with Man United not being able to bring on another substitute, I’d be saying ‘right, first person, first opportunity, go and kick Rashford on the ankle he’s been limping on in the first half’,” Owen said on BT Sport during the half-time at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The former Man United and Liverpool made Man United fans on Twitter furious with his comments in concern to Rashford:

Michael Owen: “If I was Jurgen Klopp in that dressing room at half-time with #mufc not being able to bring on another substitute, i’d be saying ‘right, first person, first opportunity, go and kick Rashford on the ankle he’s been limping on in the first half’.” #mulive [bein]— utdreport (@utdreport) February 24, 2019

What a clown. Surprising it’s coming from him considering the amount of injuries he had— Mufc20 (@Mufc7249) February 24, 2019

Owen reached out all those frustrated by his comments on social media today to apologize, in some way, for it.

“Nobody was advocating giving Marcus Rashford a serious injury but with 3 subs already used if his ankle was so uncomfortable he couldn’t continue the, of course,e that would be discussed in every changing room in the land,” Owen tweeted.
