Weeks after nurses strike in over 26 counties including Nairobi, clinical officers have also come out to threaten a strike if the county fails to honor their return to work formula.
Clinical officers in Nairobi have threatened to go on strike on the 28th of February.
The Kenya Union of Clinical Officers secretary General, George Gibore accused Nairobi county of frustrating the negotiation process.
”The county government has been frustrating the negotiation process especially after we petitioned them several times. The county has also failed to show up for a negotiation meeting that was facilitated by the ministry of labor hence the strike is our next option so that we can agitate for our demands to be met.” He said

The clinical officers say the CBA agreement has been there for a long time and are now urging the county government to fulfill the back to work formula which they signed in 2017.
Gibore further said ”Under staffing is currently affecting delivery of services to the public and currently the ratio of clinical officers to the patient is 1 to 12000 which is a cause for alarm, we cannot be able to deliver quality services to our patients.”
The clinical officers have vowed not to back down until the demands are met by the county government.
Gibore said county only has three hundred clinical officers serving a population of over six million.
