While the country is still trying to understand the logic behind the Nakuru family rejecting president Uhuru’s house gift, another marijuana farmer is also raising concerns after taking advantage of the president’s gift of freedom to him and wasting it.
One Mr Samuel Mutai Adsalam Walkman has appeared before Embu Principal Magistrate where he has been found guilty of cultivating 60 large stems of cannabis Sativa.
Walkman had been in prison since 2013 and had been sentenced for 10 years until he was given presidential pardon.
A rewind of his sentencing six years ago for cultivating marijuana reveals the 28-year-old man predicted repeating the mistake as he asked the court to give him two sentences back then.
His argument was that after serving “two jail terms” police should not arrest him again for the repeat offence.
During the arrest, it is reported that Walkman resisted arrest and was shot on the leg and chest after he brandished a panga at the police.
He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years for the first offence of cultivating bhang and one year for second count of resisting arrest.
He also threatened to continue with the trade once he completed his jail term.
On February 8, barely a month after his release, he was arrested again for the same offense at his home at Kevote village in Embu North.
