Impala rugby player dies after drowning in swimming pool

Richard Sidindi has passed away

Impala rugby player Richard Akoth also known as Real Jadhah died on Monday morning after he drowned while swimming at the club grounds.

Sidindi was Impala’s fullback and a key player in both the fifteens and the sevens version of the game.

His last game was on 23rd February 2019 where Impala lost to Homeboyz 18-11 in the Eric Shirley Shield (ESS).

On 1st October 2011, JKUAT Cougars lost their Captain James “Dibo” Nyongesa in a similar way after he drowned in a swimming pool in Mombasa during the Driftwood sevens tournament.

Richard Akoth’s death is a huge blow to the rugby fraternity.
