Iran on the spot for helping Al Shabaab terrorists Escape Kenya

Iranian Embassy in Nairobi has dismissed media reports that it tried assisting two terror suspects escape from the country.

In a statement to newsroom Sunday, the Embassy said it is the one who notified the Ministry of Interior of some two individuals who had approached it purporting that they could help free the suspects who have been in custody since 2012 for plotting terror attacks in the country.

The embassy said it notified the interior ministry that the two individuals who had presented themselves as high ranking officers acting on behalf of Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary, Director of Criminal Investigations and the Anti-terrorism Police Unit (APTU) were willing to help the two suspects.

The Embassy claims the misleading report is aimed at spoiling its good name and painting it as a terrorist sympathizer for unknown reasons.
