Reuben Raboso, the Chair of Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, pointed out that some of their members have stagnated in the same job groups for for over six years.

“It is not just an issue of promoting them but our members have stagnated in one job group for more than six years while others even 10 years,” Raboso said.

“We are saying that if your are promoting an officer from one group to another, consider the number of years one has spent in the group and promote them in the right one and also backdate their allowances,” he added.

The health workers noted that they are not seeking for allowances but and designation of job groups, adding that  officers should be confirmed after 6 months.

“We have some officers who have worked for over nine years without confirmation. County Service Board takes us in circles,  there will be no services,” they said.

The county health workers said they have used all avenues to address their grievances but to no avail.

The health workers have said that the strike will officially begin on Thursday.
