Drug smuggling has reached an appalling stage as culprits keep advancing new methods to dodge the authorities.

If you see packed pawpaws, you will automatically think of food. No!

A Kenyan man was nabbed with Ksh15 Million worth of heroin concealed in pawpaw fruits on Friday.

The suspected drug trafficker who was identified as Joseph Njau Ngendo was apprehended in Westlands with his contraband package.

Authorities who spoke to media disclosed that the man had just arrived from Uganda when they detained him.

Njau Ngendo was apprehended when he had concealed heroin in pawpaws.

“He has a pattern of leaving Kenya through Busia border and comes back to Kenya through Malaba border. He does this to evade detection. In early February 2019 Njau made two other trips to Uganda where he is suspected to have hammered a deal with his Nigerian drug associates,” a police report revealed.

Njau will be arraigned before JKIA law courts on Monday 2019 where he is expected to be charged with possession and trafficking of narcotic drugs.

The arrest comes days after DCI officers arrested an Australian man, Benjamin Gsull after raiding his house in Nairobi.

Working on a tip-off, the detectives found bhang and ammunition after a search in his house.

Globally, there has been an emerging trend of peddlers using tropical fruits to transport drugs unnoticed.

Earlier in January, authorities busted 745Kgs of cocaine hidden inside pineapple skins in Spain.
