Five Players Likely to Leave United this Summer

While United still have everything to play for this season, it’s becoming clear that certain players could be on their way on in the summer. We here at Tribuna.com take a look at five men who could quit Old Trafford when the transfer window reopens.

Marcos Rojo

Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly are certain to remain at United past this summer following their progress under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. And with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones signing new deals recently, the Argentine is simply the odd man out. The Red Devils will be looking for a new centre-back in the summer, so there’s no future for Rojo at Old Trafford.

Antonio Valencia

A loyal servant for almost ten years, it looks like Valencia’s time at United has come to and end. Luke Shaw has finally established himself as the first-choice left-back and the 33-year-old is struggling to make matchday squads under Solskjaer. With Valencia’s deal expiring in the summer, the Ecuadorian is expected to leave Old Trafford in June.

Andreas Pereira

Things are simply not working out for the Brazilian at United. Despite a successful loan spell at the La Liga side Valencia, the 23-year-old has failed to stake his claim under Jose Mourinho and Solskjaer. While United do have an option to extend his contract for another year, Pereira is likely to leave Manchester in search for first-team football.

Juan Mata

Adored by fans and respected by Solskjaer, it seems strange that there has been no progress in the Spaniard’s contract talks. However, Mata is not a key player in United’s midfield or attack so the Red Devils could cut their losses and let the 30-year-old leave on a free transfer in June. Not short of options, Mata will surely land on his feet.

Romelu Lukaku

Once dubbed an ‘untouchable’ by Mourinho, the Belgian has been relegated to the bench under Solskjaer. The Norwegian clearly sees Marcus Rashford as his first-choice no.9 and Lukaku has to settle for short spells from the bench. Should the Norwegian be named United’s full-time manager, the 25-year-old could concede that his Old Trafford career is over.
