5 reasons why Arsenal must win vs Southampton

This Sunday Arsenal welcome Southampton to the Emirates for yet another crucial game in the Premier League.

1. Overall head-to-head record

Arsenal’s overall head-to-head record against Southampton is overwhelmingly positive. The Gunners have won more than half (49 out of 96) of all of their games against the Saints. Moreover, we are unbeaten in our last 23 home league games against Sunday’s opponents since 1987.

2. Southampton at Arsenal form

The Saints have never won in the Premier League at Arsenal. They have played 19 games, drawing five and losing the rest. This is the most any team has played away at another club without winning at least once in the Premier League.

3. Gunners great at the Emirates

Arsenal are unbeaten in their last 12 home league games, winning the last six in a row. Moreover, the Gunners have won their last 30 home games against teams in the relegation zone since October 2008.

4. Saints need magic

The last time Southampton completed the league double over Arsenal was in 1987 when 17-year-old Alan Shearer scored a hat-trick on his first league start for the club.

5. Lacazette is a game-changer

After missing out on the second leg against BATE and on both Rennes games through suspension, Alexandre Lacazette will be geared up to prove his worth to the team once again. He’s already the player with the most game-winning goals in the league this season and the fans can surely expect more.
