Universities in Kenya are set to cut down on the number of employees following a directive from the university education authorities due to shortage of funds in the education sector.
Education committee chairman Julius Melly over a meeting of university administrators and members of the National Assembly education committee asked universities to put available resources into proper use available and also conduct research.
“You have to survive … that calls for bold decisions,” added University Education Principal Secretary Collete Suda.
This is in addition to a drastic decline in the number of students enrolled in parallel programmes, which also calls for strategies of “survival”.
After all, the struggle can get real, you know?
