Pastor who was fired for engaging in the act to be paid, Nyeri court rules

The Methodist Church was Friday forced to pay clergy it had sacked for engaging into an intimate affair with a man before marriage.

Methodist church opposed the ruling compelling it to pay the pastor Sh214,000 over uncalled for expulsion.

However, judge Nzioki Makau of the Labor Court in Nyeri rejected the application.

Methodist Church had contended that it didn’t know about the case recorded by the 31-year-old evangelist since it was not presented with court reports.

However, judge Makau, in his decision Friday found that the fellowship through its authority a Mr Kamau was presented with the reports over and again and declined to recognize receipt.

“Indeed, even in the wake of considering the contentions progressed by the congregation, there is a draft resistance which upon investigation does not reveal any triable issue for my thought.

“The administrator who has been served over and over and declined to recognize receipt is the worst thing about the respondents as they would endure the results of execution as I decrease to set aside. The respondents are undeserving of the activity of my watchfulness to set aside the judgment,”

The minister, through attorney Gitonga Muthee, was additionally restricted to the application stating that the congregation was legitimately served and had been reluctant to coordinate when served and the application was in this manner an endeavor to defer equity.

The minister was sacked through a letter dated November 1, 2017 which was marked by Reverend Wilson Njagi, for the Synod Bishop. The letter demonstrated that she neglected to carry on as an evangelist by taking part in pre-marriage sex.
