Arsenal is ‘one of six” side who can win this season’s Europa League, according to boss Unai Emery.
Emery tipped the north London side to lift the Europa League trophy though he is aware of the difficult task the club faces. The Gunners had to wait for the second leg to progress, beating BATE Borisov 3-0 on Thursday night and 3-1 on aggregate. The club suffered a 1-0 shock defeat in Belarus and many questioned its credential to win the Europa League this season. Emery is a specialist in Europa as he has won it for three consecutive times with Sevilla.
“We can win. Maybe if we can say there are six teams that can win it, one is Arsenal. But it’s very difficult. A lot of teams want the same thing,” Emery said after the win.
“We need to enjoy this competition a lot, and create a big atmosphere with our supporters. This feeling can give us more possibilities, with our quality as a team,” he added.
Arsenal will know their next opponent later in the day when the Europa League draw for the round of 16 will be conducted.
