‘Takataka’ hitmaker Alvindo reveals What inspired him to sing the song

New Kenyan sensation Alvindo, known for his controversial song Takataka, has finally admitted the tune was not meant to go viral, but to hit out at an ex who broke his heart. Alvindo’s song Takataka is currently the anthem of the boychild who seems all too familiar with the lyrics of the song.

Initially released at on January 3 2019, the song is ironically performing better than a number of other forms of music being done by more ‘serious’ artists. Interestingly, the song came just as the wave of ‘Play Kenyan music’ was trying to gain some momentum, and it is fair to say it did not help the campaign’s cause.

Artists such as boy-group Ethic with their song Lamba Lolo have mastered the art of viral and are releasing songs which are very appealing to the vast majority, but do not necessarily hold commercial value. But for Alvin, he recently revealed to comedian Churchill that the primary inspiration to the song was an ex who left his heart in shambles.

“That song was actually inspired by a girl who rejected me and cut me off on every social media platform. So I decided instead of depressing myself to suicide I would make a song,” he explained. It gets more interesting as he went on to reveal that using a simple beat app on his phone, he created a beat and the words started to flow.

Alvindo, to the amusement of the audience, further said his very insensitive lyrics about what he wished he would do to the lady who rejected him came about the more he thought of the rejection. Love or hate him, it is hard to ignore the lad at this point as he has already secured some high-profile interviews since his song.
