“Men wont tell us what to do !” Passaris comes into Akothee’s defense

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has come to Controversial Musician Akothee defense on her recent public performance saying the artist did absolutely nothing wrong.

Passaris argued that Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) boss Ezekiel Mutua did not have substantive reasons to ‘demonize’ the mother of five.

Appearing on KTN on Thursday, February 21, Passaris engaged Mutua in a heated exchange over Akothe’s recent public displays in skimpy outfits.

“I feel that there is an element of control. This is a patriarchal society and the men feel they still want to control. This is a patriarchal society and the men still feel they want to control what a women does, to the point where they want to tell us how to dress, walk, talk and now how to entertain…” Passaris said.

She argued Akothe’s show was about entertainment and Kenyans should learn to celebrate and support their own artist.

“If Beyonce were to come to Kenya and perform she would have less clothes than Akothee and we would celebrate her…We are talking about entertainment, and there is no law that stops what Akothee did in Malindi,” the Woman Rep said.

She added: “I looked at what Akothee was wearing and I compared with what Beyonce wore in her shows, and we have to look at role model in terms of entertainment, you know…she was entertaining.”

Mutua, however, could not hear any of it and insisted Akothe’s public performance in Malindi was way out of order..
