Maurizio Sarri ‘Holds Talks’ With Roma Chief Over Chelsea Escape

With Maurizio Sarri under intense pressure at Chelsea, rumours have emerged suggesting he is already holding talks over a new job.

Sarri came to the Premier League from Napoli over the summer and much was expected of the Italian.

His Napoli side played some fantastic football, with Sarri’s tactics soon dubbed ‘Sarri-Ball’.

When he came to Chelsea, it was expected that his style of play would allow Chelsea to be a force in the Premier League yet again.

Instead, Sarri’s tactics have not had the desired effect on the Blues.

While Chelsea started the season well, their recent form is pretty worrying.

Sarri’s side lost 4-0 to Bournemouth at the end of January before going on to beat Huddersfield 5-0.

Then, Chelsea were absolutely destroyed by Manchester City with Pep Guardiola’s side winning 6-0.

Questions then started to be asked as to whether Sarri was actually the right boss for Chelsea.

A narrow win over Malmo did little to take the pressure off Sarri, before displeasure among the fans reached a new high after the 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

Now, with his Chelsea career very much in doubt, there is talk of a return to Italy.

That is because according to La Repubblica, as cited by the Daily Mirror, Sarri met with Roma chief Franco Baldini earlier this week to discuss a potential move.

It’s claimed that Eusebio Di Francesco’s future at the club is currently uncertain with sporting director Monchi linked with a move away.

If Chelsea are beaten in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, Sarri could soon be out of work and available for a return to Serie A.
