Professor Mukau Mutua announces his bid to run for 2022 general elections.

The Kenya-American professor of law, Makau Mutua resigned as Dean of the University of the Buffalo after a controversial seven-year-term.

He still remains a SUNY Distinguished Professor and the Floyd H. & Hilda L. Hurst Faculty Scholar at the Law School. He was the first professor in the history of the Law School to be named SUNY Distinguished Professor.

In 2003, he was appointed by the retired President Mwai Kibaki to chair a task force that eventually led to the establishment of the Truth, Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC) in 2008.

Professor Mutua announced the decision through his Twitter handle. He, however, stated that he will do so under if only one person doesn’t run too.
