Isiolo County Women Representative Rehema Dida Jaldesa has announced that she had presented a bill for approval by parliament that advocates for chopping off of private parts of sexual offenders.
Jaldesa stated that she had given Speaker of Parliament Justin Muturi a written proposal that seeks to amend section 43 of the Sexual Offences Act.
“This issue of being found guilty of raping a girl and then being sentenced to just ten years yet you have already messed up a child’s entire life is nonsense.
“I have written a proposal which I have already taken to the Speaker, let those found guilty of the vice have their private parts cut off,” remarked Jaldesa.
The lawmaker further insisted that in the event the chopping off plan does not stop the crime, she would push for death by hanging to end the vice.N
The law contains fourteen offences, where it created minimum sentences and criminalized sexual harassment.
In 2006, the law had been passed after a successful push by Supreme Court Judge Njoki Ndung’u, who was an Nominated MP at that time.
The passage of the bill had suffered criticism from male MPs who complained that it discriminated against men.
