Sami Khedira has been diagnosed with and irregular heartbeat. The former Real Madrid midfielder was diagnosed with atrial arrhythma.
This condition causes the heart to beat irregularly and abnormally fast and it can lead to issues like shortness of breath, tiredness and dizziness.
The Juventus midfielder will be sidelined for over a month as he goes through treatment.
Juventus said that: “Sami Khedira remained in Turin for medical examinations, from which emerged the opportunity to perform an electrophysiological study and eventual treatment of an atrial arrhythmia which appeared today [Tuesday],”
Sami Khedira underwent successful heart surgery this morning, Juventus announced through their official website. The German was dropped by Massimiliano Allegri for tonight’s Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid because of an atrial arrhythmia.
The Italy media reported last night that Khedira was set to undergo the same surgery as that of Stephan Lichsteiner in 2015 and he is expected to get back to action in about one month.
