Guard kills a boy for miraa theft

18-year-old, Dennis Murithi, a student of Miuine Secondary School died under the arms of their farm guard over the weekend in Igembe North, Meru County.

Local police headed by police boss David Kirui came to the rescue of the 50-year-old guard as the locals were furious of Murithi’s demise

Murithi succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the Maua Methodist Hospital.

The 50-year-old guard is accused of manhandling the boy who in his defence said that he thought he was a thief. Murithi’s mother was uncontrollable and said that the guard knew all her children.

“My son, who was on mid-term break, was fetching fodder for the goats when he was attacked,” the shocked mother said.

Villagers claimed that the student had his testicles crushed during the attack.

Igembe North Police boss David Kirui affirmed that the suspect was now in custody and would be duly charged with murder once their investigations were complete.
