Assistant Referee Caught in Camera Running Inside the Pitch During an Active Play

An assistant referee was on Sunday caught on camera running inside the pitch during active play in a Kenya Premier League match .

The AR was making efforts to keep pace with an attacking move involving Gor Mahia forwards when he found himself right inside the pitch.

With was not in accordance with FIFA’s Law 6 whih states that an assistant referees should strive to maintain a position even with either the second-to-last defender or the ball—whichever is closer to the goal line during active play .

The assistant referee should as well stay about one or two feet outside of the touchline in order to maintain a wide-angle view of play close to the touchline and to avoid causing the ball to remain in play if it were to strike the assistant referee.
