Two armed men were on Sunday arrested after breaking into a bar at Karia trading centre, Kirinyaga County, and stealing Ksh.26, 000.
The suspected criminals, are said to have been armed with assorted weapons, defied a police order to surrender forcing the officers to shoot one of them on the leg.
According to Kirinyaga Police Commander Leah Kithei, officers who conducted the arrests were acting on a tip-off from members of the public, led by the bar owner Joyce Wamaitha Kiminju.
One of the suspects is being held at Kerugoya Police Station while the other who sustained a gunshot injury is receiving treatment at Kerugoya County Referral Hospital under police watch.
