Mombasa County takes up initiative to boost trade in the City

Mombasa County Government has set up plans to boost trade in the city particularly for traders who have business in the largest market, Kongowea.

Kongowea Market is the largest marketplace in the County Government of Mombasa where thousands of people from all walks of life make their living from it each passing day. It’s one of our strategic economic assets

Earlier today, the Chief Executive Committee Member in Charge of Trade, Tourism and Investment Mr Rashid revealed the County’s plan refurbish the market.

Mr Rashid assured that the county government will continue to rehabilitate all the retail sections at Kongowea market thus improving the business environment for traders and enhancing cleanliness.

The CEC member also added that with the youth in mind, the county government has endeavoured to provide facilities to encourage trade among the young people.

Accompanied by Trade Chief Officer Mr. Abdulwahab Mbarak, thy supervised the unclogging of the drainage system and highlighted the need for improvement on the same.

Mr Rashid also assured the traders that the county shall enhance the collection of solid waste especially at night.

These efforts by the county government will go a long way to ensure that trade is boosted and that traders work in a suitable environment on a daily basis.
