Is Miguna Miguna Kenya’s Opposition leader?

Controversial Canada based lawyer Miguna Miguna has rebuked the commemoration of Kenya’s first Vice-President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga citing it as an avenue to squander public revenue.

The self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga of having spent more than Sh350 million to commemorate their deceased relatives at the expense of taxpayers.

He highlighted anniversaries of Oginga Odinga, Jomo Kenyatta and Fidel Odinga.

He also said that it is evident that they cannot end corruption since they are propagators of the same vice.

Miguna through tweeter posted, “Both Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta have wasted more than Sh350 million in organizing public anniversaries and events for Oginga Odinga, Jomo Kenyatta and Fidel Odinga…”

He also noed that Kenyans want the two to address pertinent issues such as housing, jobs and health care among others instead of celebrating the dead.

Kenyans, including the residents of Nyanza, are not looking for statutes for Jaramogi, Daniel Arap Moi or Jomo Kenyatta. They want jobs, food, running water, housing, universal health care and vibrant democracy where everyone operates within the law.

The Kisumu County government plans to build a statue in the central business district in commemoration of Kenya’s first Vice-President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
