As a criminal he got presented for charge in court and amazed many when he pleaded guilty after on Sunday he had tried to smuggle his daughter out of the hospital to evade the huge medical bill standing at ksh 56,000 using a carrier bag before he was caught by the sentry at the hospital.
This was followed by a public outcry that led to many citizens including a Dusit cop, Babu Owino, Sonko and reporter Larry Madowo rushing to help the boy child secure freedom and clear the bill.
Twitter has since blasted the Universal Medical cover, free maternity and Beyond Zero campaign as a ploy by the government.Kenyans have also praised the accused for his boldness and immense love for his new born daughter.
One twitter user said thanks to Boniface Murage, the world has been shown that to be a dad is a calling and not just a sperm donation activity.
Another female wished she had a dad like Boniface Murage. “He is wonderful.I don’t think many dads can take such a big risk of smuggling a daughter from hospital”, she said.
He has been freed on a three-month suspended sentence.
That means Boniface Murage is free but should not commit any offence in the three months or he will serve the sentence.
